Senior Associate / Manager Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services - Insurance - PwC

A career within Capital Markets Accounting Advisory Services, will provide you with the opportunity to be responsible for complex financial reporting issues around deals and other transformational events. You’ll tackle client’s needs with a solution oriented approach that creatively addresses complex financial reporting problems for high profile transactions and you’ll have significant interaction with senior company management teams, bankers, lawyers and other advisers.

PwC’s Financial Services (“FS”) team within the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services (“CMAAS”) business unit is growing rapidly through the services being provided to banks and insurers in risk, regulatory and accounting. This growth creates interesting functions for accountants and risk professionals.

The FS team is looking for Senior Associates/ Managers to join the team. You have strong knowledge of insurance accounting, and are a good all round team player with a proven track record in building and sustaining client relationships. As Senior Associate / Manager, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients with complex business and accounting issues.

As part of the FS team, you will work primarily on accounting change engagements, with a focus on the insurance sector. The insurance sector is experiencing unprecedented change through the impact of IFRS 17.

Who are you?
You are a passionate accountant with experience in the financial services industry. You are familiar with IFRS 17, and you would like to acquire more in-depth knowledge of insurance accounting consulting. Furthermore: 

  • You hold a university degree in accounting (RA/ ACA or equivalent);
  • You have 5 to 8 years of experience working with clients in either the FS sector, or more specifically the insurance industry, or have been working in an insurance company;
  • You would like to continuously deepen your knowledge in technical accounting and stay abreast of the latest developments in insurance accounting and reporting;
  • You work well under pressure and are committed to meet deadlines;
  • You are a team player and stimulate a pleasant atmosphere at work;
  • You enjoy working on various assignments and building your internal and external network; and
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both in speech and writing.

What the job entails
As an insurance accounting advisory professional, you will focus on providing specialist accounting advice to international and local insurance clients. You will be responsible for advising clients in the area of IFRS 17 implementation, reporting, application of accounting standards and solving complex accounting issues in financial statements.

Together with the team, you will be responsible for the entire process from first contact with the client until the project evaluation. The areas below will also form important parts of your tasks: 

  • You will closely collaborate with clients when processing complex transactions under the applicable accounting standards;
  • You will proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above;
  • You will be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients;
  • You will contribute to the development of your own and your team’s technical acumen;
  • You will develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges; and
  • You will supervise and coach your team members and ensure that they are able to continue developing; both professionally and personally.

  • Proactively assist the team in various aspects of the project
  • Prepare deliverables
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
  • Ensure you are adhering to compliance matters
  • Work on developing internal relationships and your PwC brand
